We have been two frozen
pineapples in the snowy northeast since we made the trip from Hawaii. Coffee
has become even more important to warm up in the morning. I always put cinnamon on
my coffee but it seems even more appropriate now that winter and the holiday
season is here.
If you haven’t tried sprinkling cinnamon on your coffee I highly recommend trying it. I cannot drink coffee without cinnamon anymore. Ok, I will still drink coffee without cinnamon because I love my caffeine fix in the morning but I will only acquiesce after asking and searching for cinnamon powder. I have even gone so far as to rudely search my host’s cabinets and I keep a small shaker in my purse for on the road coffee breaks.
My observation has been that the cinnamon trend has quietly grown in popularity. Starbuck’s always has a full shaker on their fixings bar and most coffee shops have one at the ready if you ask. Slowly, many of my friends and family members have been coerced by the warm, spicy scent of cinnamon coffee and have since freed their cinnamon from the confines of a dark cabinet and placed it with honor next to their coffee pots. For coffee purist I respect your love of unaltered coffee but just give cinnamon one try. It’s natural sweetness and spicy scent makes coffee even more enjoyable early in the morning. If sprinkling cinnamon directly in your coffee is too strong for your taste, try sprinkling about 1/4 of a teaspoon directly on top of your coffee grounds prior to starting the brew cycle.

Lauren,
ReplyDeleteYou told me about this years ago and now for the holidays I always put cinnamon in my coffee!
